This ready-to-go lesson is designed for Grade 5-6 learners, but it can also work in Grade 4 if you have strong students. In this lesson, students learn about four natural disasters (thunderstorms, hurricanes, tornadoes, and volcanoes), see short videos that illustrate what real-life disasters look like, understand the difference between hurricanes and tornadoes, learn a few interesting facts about each disaster, and play three games to reinforce what they have learned: 1) Tornado Game, 2) Definitions, and 3) Finish the Sentence.
